My name is Joseph Sanders, and I’m married to my beautiful wife, Corianne. We have two children, Ezekiel (7) and Brynlee (5).
A little over 10 years ago, I moved to Marietta, Ohio after surrendering my life to Christ. I was quickly submerged in the oil and gas business through my now brother-in-law.
In 2016, I moved to Belmont County, where I began to meet many mineral owners. Seeing all the different aspects of the industry gave me a unique perspective that I can now share with them.
My desire in the industry now is to help mineral owners tread waters that may seem daunting.
Lance Kearns brings nearly two decades of oil and gas experience to the Family Landman team, along with a strong commitment to serving others. Originally from Western Pennsylvania and raised on a dairy farm, Lance developed a deep appreciation for hard work, integrity, and relationships, values that continue to guide his approach today.
After graduating from Texas Christian University, Lance began his career as a Landman in the Marcellus Shale. While he built extensive industry knowledge, he recognized early on that his passion was not aligned with the traditional oil and gas model. Instead, he felt called to work directly with landowners, helping them understand their rights, navigate complex agreements, and make informed decisions.
As more friends, family, and community members sought his guidance, Lance shifted his focus to representing mineral owners. Over the years, he has successfully advocated for landowners in negotiations with major companies, including EQT, Range Resources, Chesapeake, CNX, BP, and Hilcorp, always prioritizing transparency and long-term value.
For eight years, Lance has also been involved with Mission BBQ, supporting initiatives that honor military members, veterans, and first responders. Based out of the Youngstown location, he contributes both locally and regionally through events and outreach efforts.
Outside of work, Lance is a devoted husband and father of two. He enjoys coaching youth sports, spending time outdoors with his family, and pursuing his passion for cooking and BBQ - often bringing people together around the table.
Looking ahead, Lance is exploring innovative ways to better serve landowners, including the utilization of emerging technologies to help monitor royalties and simplify the review of oil and gas documentation. At his core, Lance is driven by a simple mission: to advocate for people, build trust, and make a meaningful impact in the communities he serves.
